I had an odd experience this morning. I was driving behind a late model Ford Escape that had the rear wiper going.
That may not seem too odd, except it hasn’t rained here in the last several days. It wasn’t clean so it wasn’t coming from a car wash. It was late morning so there wouldn’t have been fresh dew either. I didn’t see any sign of fresh washer fluid.
It was just wiping. For no reason. On dry, dirty glass. Like fingernails on a blackboard.
I found myself trying to maneuver in traffic to get away from it so I didn’t have to look at it. But I was thwarted with every lane change and turn. I’d switch lanes, but traffic kept me from passing. I’d come to intersections that I was planning to turn at, and this dry ass wiper would turn the same way. It even turned into the same parking lot at my destination.
Watching it was making me physically ill. I was getting nauseous and a headache was starting in the back of my head. At one point I put the visor down low enough so I could only see the bumper.
It was one of the most irritating driving experiences I remember. I feel better getting that off my chest.

Somebody needs to read owner’s manual on how to turn rear wipers off.

Wiper on dry glass is possibly my number 1 pet peeve in the car world. Oh how I loath it!

I was heading to Toronto last night and a Journey was in front of me. The wiper arm was ripped off. The stupid thing was on intermittent. There was just the mounting point and cover going back and forth. I was like how stupid are these people? Then I realized they couldn’t see it or hear it.... my OCD kicked in to overdrive.

I see bus drivers do that a lot. It’s a huge flat window, and they have the wipers on if there’s any amount of rain at all. From halfway down the bus I can hear it screeching its way across the window, I don’t know how anybody can stand it
